FAQ

  • You'll drive an authentic NASCAR Cup Series race car — the same model of car that competes at the highest level of NASCAR racing. The cars are powered by Richard Childress Racing engines. These are not replicas or simulators; they are real competition race cars.

  • Drive experiences reach speeds up to 150 mph. Passenger Ride experiences with a professional driver can reach up to 160 mph. Your speed builds progressively through your laps based on your comfort level and performance.

  • We do allow you to reschedule your driving experience, however Team Texas does not offer refunds.

  • Not at all! No racing background is necessary—just bring your enthusiasm and sense of adventure. We’ll guide you every step of the way so you can hit the track with confidence.

  • Before you ever get in the car, you'll attend a 30-minute classroom-style training session taught by David Starr or one of our certified instructors. You'll learn how the NASCAR Cup Series car handles differently from a regular vehicle, how to drive the racing line on TMS's 1.5-mile banked oval, safety protocols, and what to expect at speed. You must complete and pass this certification before you can drive.

  • Children 48 inches and taller can participate in the Passenger Ride and Limo Ride. The Drive experiences require participants to be 16 years of age or older and hold a valid driver's license. The Limo Ride has no age restriction and is great for kids and adults of any age.

  • Since the window of the NASCAR Cup Race Car is 15” x 30”, we have a weight restriction of 300lbs or less for our drive and ride experiences. (Our largest driving suit of XXXL). Riders must be at least 48 inches tall. The Limo Ride is available for guests of all ages and sizes.

  • Unfortunately, no. The racing seats aren’t adjustable, and each car is set up to fit different body types. It’s all about comfort and safety!!

  • We have professional fire suits and helmets for our guests safety.

  • Wear athletic shoes with socks — this is required. Dress in clothes that are comfortable under a racing fire suit, and dress appropriately for the weather since part of your day will be outdoors. Avoid open-toed shoes, sandals, or high heels. Leave large bags and valuables in your car. Arrive on time for your session — late arrivals may forfeit their spot.

  • No. For NASCAR information, call 904-253-0611.

  • Yes — passing is allowed at Team Texas. Up to 10 cars may be on the track at once, and passing is one of the things that makes the experience feel like a real race rather than just a parade lap.

  • Drive experiences can be purchased in advance online or on the day of the event. Ride experiences are offered based on availability on days when other classes are running. For groups or private events, advance booking is strongly recommended. For the best selection of dates and times, booking ahead is always the better option.

  • PLEASE NOTE: We reserve the right to judge all participants performance. Any person engaging in activity that we feel to be unsafe and dangerous will forfeit their right to drive at our discretion with

    NO REFUND.

  • Yes — gift cards are available starting at $100 and can be applied toward any experience. They're a popular gift for birthdays, Father's Day, graduations, and anniversaries. You can purchase gift cards at teamtexas.com/gift-card.

  • Drive experiences start at $449 for the 10 Lap Driving School and go up to $2,549 for the full VIP Experience (50 laps plus a full day of perks). The 4 Lap Passenger Ride is $175, making it the most accessible way to experience the track. Gift cards are available starting at $100 if you want to give the experience as a gift or schedule at a later date.

  • The main difference is number of laps: 10, 20, 30, or 40 Lap Drive options give you progressively more track time, while the VIP Experience tops out at 50 laps and includes a passenger ride, limo ride, in-car camera, David Starr as your personal instructor, a signed hat, and priority access all day. All packages include the same 30-minute training session, fire suit, helmet, and a professional instructor in the car with you.

  • Texas Motor Speedway is a 1.5-mile superspeedway oval with turns banked up to 24 degrees. The track has a 750-foot turn radius and 45 pit stalls. The banking in the turns is what lets cars maintain high speed through the corners — it's one of the defining features of TMS and a big part of what makes driving here feel so different from anything else.

  • Team Texas operates at Texas Motor Speedway, located at 3545 Lone Star Circle, Fort Worth, TX 76177. TMS is about 20 miles north of downtown Fort Worth and easily accessible from I-35W and Highway 114. Our shop is not open to the public. You can visit us on our racing experience event days.

  • David Starr is a professional NASCAR driver with 27 years of experience and 4 career race wins. He founded Team Texas to share the sport he's spent his career in with fans and newcomers alike. David is personally involved in training sessions and is your instructor for the VIP Experience. He is also available for keynote and motivational speaking engagements.

  • Team Texas operates at Texas Motor Speedway and has a close partnership with the venue, but is its own independent company. Team Texas — David Starr's Driving School — handles all aspects of the driving and riding experience program. Texas Motor Speedway hosts NASCAR races and other events separately.

  • Yes — Team Texas has sponsorship and partnership opportunities available. You can sponsor one of our race cars in our school (we custome wrap our official NASCAR racecars with your company branding) or partner with us at one of our NASCAR races with David Starr Racing.
